Tim Thurlow Port Richey\Chose the Olympic Arms AR-15 in .223 caliber.

Tim likes the sporting rifle appearance and owns other models of similar genre. He’s a fan of semi-auto military style rifles and regularly shoots at Hernando sportsman club. Tim purchased 3 tickets and at that time he said “He never wins anything.” – So he was pleasantly surprised when he won. Another raffle incentive whiched convinced him to buy 3 of the last 50 tickets available was also the chance of winning a $25 McDonald’s Gift Certificate.

Concealed Carry Permits Are Life Savers
HUMAN EVENTS ^ | 01/26/2009 | Rep. Cliff Stearns

The right to bear arms is more than a Constitutional right: every human being has the natural unalienable right to self-defense. Cicero said 2,000 years ago, “If our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.”

The U.S. Constitution, the constitutions of 44 states, common law, and the laws of all 50 states recognize the right to use arms in self-defense. Right to carry laws respect the right to self-defense by allowing individuals to carry concealed firearms for their own protection.

So many liberal politicians and self-appointed experts want to keep honest Americans from having access to firearms, even though, since 2003, in states which allow concealed carry, violent crime rates have been lower than anytime since the mid-1970s. The reverse logic of this "knee jerk" reaction is astounding and has lead to an outright assault on our basic Constitutional and natural rights. These misguided policies to keep firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens literally mean a death sentence for thousands of Americans.

Look at the facts. According to a study by criminologist Gary Kleck of Florida State University, “[R]obbery and assault victims who used a gun to resist were less likely to be attacked or to suffer an injury than those who used any other methods of self-protection or those who did not resist at all.” In approximately 2.5 million instances each year, someone uses a firearm, predominantly a handgun, for self defense in this nation.

John DiGaetano, President of the club and two time Purple Heart award recipient in Viet Nam, said the student group is interested in their rights to legally carry firearms in order to protect themselves from those who mean to do them harm. “Our club has partnered with this group because we feel that if they want to carry a firearm then they should be properly trained” Said DiGaetano. The club shoots on the second Saturday of the month at their private range at Fairhaven Farms, located on Route 52, right off the Suncoast Parkway in Pasco County, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.     Republican Party of Florida Second Amendment Rights Chairman Bill Bunting released the following statement today regarding the United States Supreme Court decision that overturned a 32-year-old ban on handguns within the District of Columbia.

“The right to bear arms is a right provided by the Constitution as a means for Americans to protect themselves, their families and their property. The Supreme Court for the first time today made the distinct clarification that the right to bear arms not only belongs to our men and women in uniform, but to individual citizens across our state and our nation.

Today the Supreme Court ruled against the views of Senator Barack Obama and other Democrats who seek to diminish and even remove the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens. Senator Obama supported the gun ban in the District of Columbia and has gone so far as to say that he doesn’t believe people should own guns. Furthermore, while running for the United States Senate, Obama supported a federal law that would ban concealed carried weapons, preempting state concealed carry laws and undermining the work of Governor Crist and Republican leaders who have fought to ensure that Floridians with a concealed carry license can take their firearms with them when traveling to 32 different states. This is a right that half a million law abiding Floridians with concealed carried licenses have the option to utilize in order to protect themselves and their families when traveling out of state.

This ruling by the Supreme Court further illustrates the need for strong conservative judges who will support our constitutional rights. John McCain was on the nominating committee for Justices Alito and Roberts who joined in the majority decision today. We can trust John McCain to appoint ....

Holder Clutches At Gun Rights

HOLDER:...I think you had asked me earlier about the regulations that I thought might still exist, post-Heller. And I had mentioned, I think, closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent would be something that would be permitted under Heller, and I also think would be good for my law enforcement perspective.

If you want a glimpse into the minds of those in Obama's administration, just take a look at the new whitehouse.gov website in the section talking about the Bill of Rights. Apparently they believe government has chosen to "give" you and I the right to bear arms. Now, I don't know about you, but in my schooling I was taught the Bill of Rights were not a list of rights "given" to us citizens, but were a declaration of what rights the federal government could not infringe upon. I think SCOTUS agreed with me on the last year as well.......

Gun sellers have been buzzing with activity lately as people have been stocking up in anticipation of what our new president might try to do to their right to own guns. One wag even named Obama Gun salesman of the year. (Dang, I wish I had thought of that.) As conflicts over of the open carry of firearms mushroom in the state, Wisconsin attorney general J.B. Van Hollen is declining to issue a legal opinion about whether the practice is legal. In a Nov. 6, 2008, letter to then state Rep. Terry Musser (R-Black River Falls), deputy attorney general Raymond Taffora acknowledged a number of requests for just such an opinion, as well as a growing number of arrests for carrying firearms in plain view, mostly on the charge of disorderly conduct. On behalf of an unnamed constituent, Musser had specifically asked for an opinion about the open carrying...

This is true, whether the perpetrators use their hands or objects — like baseball bats, rocks, knives, vehicles, or a host of other readily available inanimate objects of endless variety — or a firearm. It is the intent and the will of the criminals, and not the inanimate objects they use, that are responsible for the criminal acts and the harm done to victims. But Brady is pretending that it provided Obama the margin of victory in November, and has provided him with a very long list of gun bans and other restrictions that it expects from him in return. If for no other reason, Obama might want to tell Brady "no," because if he were to do their bidding, they would be sure to demand that he do even more. It's almost understandable why members of the media end up as apologists for the immoral agenda to ban guns. They see the after-effects of violence perpetrated with guns more than just about any other demographic group in America. Still, they are supposed to act as professionals and use sound logic in determining if guns are the problem, or if gun violence is simply a symptom of other societal break-downs. Gun advocates point out that when the government began to legislate away the right to self-defense, the crime rate began to sky-rocket. Criminals, being good at their craft, knew that once...

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., is hoping to pass a firearm-licensing bill that will significantly rewrite gun-ownership laws in America. Among the more controversial provisions of the bill are requirements that all handgun owners submit to the federal government a photo, thumb print and mental heath records. Further, the bill would order the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer and owner's address in America. The bill claims its purpose is "to protect the pubic against the unreasonable risk of injury and death associated with the unrecorded sale or transfer of firearms to criminals and youth."

But Holder’s nomination raises other questions about what President-elect Barack Obama claimed he believed during the campaign. Numerous times he promised that he supported an individual’s right to own guns and that he wouldn’t do anything to take away people’s guns. Just last year in a brief to the Supreme Court, Holder argued that “the Second Amendment did not protect an individual right to keep and bear arms,” that it only protected government militias’ rights to guns.
