He’s a fan of semi-auto military style rifles and regularly shoots

The right to bear arms is more than a Constitutional right:
every human being has the natural unalienable right to
self-defense. Cicero said 2,000 years ago, “If our lives are
endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any
and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.”
The U.S. Constitution, the constitutions of 44 states, common
law, and the laws of all 50 states recognize the right to use
arms in self-defense. Right to carry laws respect the right to
self-defense by allowing individuals to carry concealed firearms
for their own protection.
So many liberal politicians and self-appointed experts want
to keep honest Americans from having access to firearms, even
though, since 2003, in states which allow concealed carry,
violent crime rates have been lower than anytime since the
mid-1970s. The reverse logic of this "knee jerk" reaction is
astounding and has lead to an outright assault on our basic
Constitutional and natural rights. These misguided policies to
keep firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens literally
mean a death sentence for thousands of Americans.
Look at the facts. According to a study by criminologist Gary
Kleck of Florida State University, “[R]obbery and assault
victims who used a gun to resist were less likely to be attacked
or to suffer an injury than those who used any other methods of
self-protection or those who did not resist at all.” In
approximately 2.5 million instances each year, someone uses a
firearm, predominantly a handgun, for self defense in this
nation.
The Second Amendment Club in Pasco
trained about 25 college students from the Knight Rifle Association of
UCF including (center) Kristen Barnes of Zephyrhills and other students
(from left) April Young, Karen Chrisman, Bianca Sabrkani and Casey Jo
Cooper at their clubs private range in Pasco County in self-defense.
John DiGaetano, President of the club and two time Purple Heart award
recipient in Viet Nam, said the student group is interested in their
rights to legally carry firearms in order to protect themselves from
those who mean to do them harm. “Our club has partnered with this group
because we feel that if they want to carry a firearm then they should be
properly trained” Said DiGaetano. The club shoots on the second Saturday
of the month at their private range at Fairhaven Farms, located on Route
52, right off the Suncoast Parkway in Pasco County, from 9:00am to
3:00pm. For more information call 813-973-8918 or go to

Republican Party of Florida
Second Amendment Rights Chairman Bill
Bunting released the following statement
today regarding the United States Supreme
Court decision that overturned a 32-year-old
ban on handguns within the District of
Columbia.
“The right to bear
arms is a right provided by the Constitution
as a means for Americans to protect
themselves, their families and their
property. The Supreme Court for the first
time today made the distinct clarification
that the right to bear arms not only belongs
to our men and women in uniform, but to
individual citizens across our state and our
nation.
Today the Supreme
Court ruled against the views of Senator
Barack Obama and other Democrats who seek to
diminish and even remove the
Second Amendment rights of law
abiding citizens. Senator Obama supported
the gun ban in the District of Columbia and
has gone so far as to say that he doesn’t
believe people should own guns. Furthermore,
while running for the United States Senate,
Obama supported a federal law that would ban
concealed carried weapons, preempting state
concealed carry laws and undermining the
work of Governor Crist and Republican
leaders who have fought to ensure that
Floridians with a concealed carry license
can take their firearms with them when
traveling to 32 different states. This is a
right that half a million law abiding
Floridians with concealed carried licenses
have the option to utilize in order to
protect themselves and their families when
traveling out of state.
This ruling by the
Supreme Court further illustrates the need
for strong conservative judges who will
support our
constitutional rights. John McCain
was on the nominating committee for Justices
Alito and Roberts who joined in the majority
decision today. We can trust John McCain to
