Dr Joann Daniels of Central Pasco
Veterinary Care promotes pet oxygen masks
After responding to house fires and volunteering to help the animal victims, Dr. Jo Ann Daniels has made it her mission to obtain Pet Oxygen Masks for Pasco County fire rescue first responders.  These special masks can be fitted to human oxygen supplies to help pets affected by smoke inhalation to save lives. Just as important as the proper equipment is the training of its use.  Understanding how to administer oxygen therapy to animals and how to interact with a stressed pet will help first responders react to distressed pets quickly and safely.  Dr. Daniels has taught 6 classes so far, and is working toward training additional first responders. Pasco County Fire Rescue has several sets of Pet Oxygen Masks that Dr. Daniels donated, and several from a rescue group.  However, it is essential to obtain a set of masks for every fire truck and we need your help.

Kristen Vitone, of Rushe Middle School (on left), and her sister Stephanie Vitone, of Sunlake High School, tried to get the Alpacas to eat some hay at the National Alpaca Farm Day held at the Crystal Springs Alpaca Farm on September 27.That day is the one day all year that they are open to the general public offering farm tours, mini alpaca clinics, and yarn spinning lessons.  Alpacas are cousins to the Llama and are native to the Andean Mountain range of South America, particularly Peru, Bolivia and Chile.  Imported into the United States since 1984, they are becoming more popular because of their soft texture alpaca fiber that is sometimes compared to cashmere. The Crystal Springs Alpaca Farm is located at 1424 Crystal Springs Rd., Zephyrhills. For more information, call 813-779-3366 or go to www.csalpacas.com.

Cally, Champ, and Gracie

Welcome You To Our Pet Page

Cally is a Rat Terrier/Mini Dachshund mix who we bread with a Mini Dachshund (Dillion). She had seven puppies (she weighed 13 pounds) on February 10, 2006. We kept Champ (named because he got Strangles when he was 5 weeks old and fought hard for his life (like a champ) and Gracie (named after comedian Gracie Allen). The other five went to friends. They are wonderful lap dogs who love to chase lizards and squirrels.  Champ is in charge of security.
