Dade City Spring Fashion Show

There were definitely signs of springtime on stage last weekend, in Dade City at the first annual Fashion Show, Fundraiser, Silent Auction, and Luncheon, held at Clayton Hall and the Pasco County Fairgrounds on Sunday, April 27th, 2008.  Local models looked like they stepped right off of the cover of Vogue magazine, while strutting across the stage and down the runway, all the while parading fun spring outfits, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns, from Bealls Department Store and a high end gown boutique in Jacksonville, Florida.  Various pageant titleholders from Pasco County were in the limelight, and looked right at home modeling various casual sportswear outfits and glamorous gowns.  Participating in the show were: Briana Birmingham ~ Teen Miss Central Florida 2008, Rachel Shields ~ Teen Miss Mid State 2008, Kiera Perkins ~ Teen Miss Orange Blossom 2008, Samantha Cypret ~ Teen Miss Sumter County 2008, Tiffany Tyler ~ Miss Dade City 2008, Sarah Lukacik ~ Teen Miss Dade City 2008, Shirley Leung ~ Jr Miss Teen Dade City 2008, Kayla Ortiz ~ Tiny Miss Dade City 2008, Carly Turner ~ Miss Kumquat Festival 2008, Jamie Stout ~ Teen Miss Kumquat Festival 2008, Harley Redditt ~ Miss Kumquat Princess 2008, Brittany Gray ~ Miss Kumquat Maiden 2008, Shelby Surratt ~ Miss Kumquat Blossom 2008, Kaelyn Kwiecinski ~ Miss Kumquat Bloom 2008, Alyssa Moreno ~ Miss Kumquat Bud 2008, The pageant titleholders from Dade City: Shelby Surratt, Alyssa Moreno, Kayla Ortiz, and Brittany Gray. Pasco County Law Enforcement had their 25th Annual 5K Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics

The Pasco County Law Enforcement had their 25^th Annual 5K Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics of Florida on April 23 starting at Starkey Boulevard and ending at Starkey Wilderness Park.  Members from the Pasco Sheriff's Office, New Port Richey Police Department, Zephyrhills Police Department, and Dade City Police Departments along with cadets from the Law Enforcement/ Corrections Academy at PHCC participated. T-shirt sales were sold and over $8,000 was raised for Special Olympics Florida.   Special Olympian Dakota Gignac, of Northwest Elementary in Hudson takes the torch from New Port Richey Corrections Officer Sgt. Kaii Gardner at the end of the run.  Gignac placed first in the Special Olympics 50-yard dash and threw a softball 35 feet nine inches to earn him the spot. Many Pasco County Law Enforcement personnel including Pasco County Undersheriff Colonel Al Nienhuis (on right) showed up for the 25^th Annual 5K Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics of Florida on April 23.  The event was held at Starkey Park and raised over $8,000 for Special Olympics Florida. Members of the Zephyrhills and Hillsborough County Corrections Institute participated in the Pasco County leg of the 25^th Annual 5K Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics of Florida on April 23.

Everyone gets into the act at the Great American Cleanup in Land O’Lakes as Courtney Carlucci 3, Johnny Carlucci 6, Jennifer Carlucci (mom in back), Justin Collier 8, Hannah Collier 6, (mom in back) Karen Collier, Ronnie Kanoza 6, mom Emily Kanoza with Ben Kanoza 2 spent about an hour or so working their way around the park.  The kids worked diligently and bragged to each other about the items they found, each one trying to outdo the other.  They found hubcaps, bottles, partial flip-flops, and old signs among other things.  They also had a chance to stop and take in the beauty around them as a pair of osprey flew above them to their nest and a great blue heron strolled majestically along the fenceline.  “It was a great experience for us all and hopefully a meaningful lesson to our kids” said Kanoza.

CP Chamber at Fairgrounds

The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce is considering moving the popular annual Land O’ Lakes Flapjack Festival from it’s current location on Highway 41 to the Pasco County Fairgrounds located on Highway 52 in Dade City. Due to the growth of the festival, and proposed changes to the current site, a change of venue is necessary to keep the traditional Land O’ Lakes festival alive.  The Chamber board had their monthly meeting at the fairgrounds and toured the facility.  A decision will be made shortly. Land O’Lakes  Nicolle Forcier, Renea Porsch, Lailonia Kailimai and Alyssa Brandt of Land O’Lakes HS came in 2^nd place in the 4 x 800 meter. Holly Gerken of Sunlake HS 110 Meter Dash.  Zack Grunewald of Land O’Lakes HS came in 2nd place in the pole vault stands with his fellow Gators, Dan Szymanski and Ryan Lane. Zack Grunewald of Land O’Lakes HS came in 2nd place in the pole vault.  Felix Soto of Land O’Lakes HS came in 1^st place in the 800, 1600 and the 3200.

Trinity     Clearing the bar at 6 foot to take 1^st place in the High Jump was Brandon Mundy of Mitchell HS. Karis Bertling of Ridgewood HS 100 Meter Dash. Hendrix of Mitchell HS came in first in the 100 meter.

East Pasco Thomas Aurie Zephyrhills Bulldog Thomas Aurie High Jump. Brandi Mira of Zephyrhills HS 100 Meter Dash. Andrews Patrias of Zephyrhills HS came in 3rd in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Josh Perkins of Zephyrhills HS came in 1^st in the 200 meters and 2^nd in the 100 meters. Track stars from Zephyrhills HS are Jeslin George, Miranda Elder, Brandy Compton, Alexi Weeks, Elizabeth Patrias and Lindsay Warner. Josh Perkins aka J-Perk, Ryan Commodore aka #30 smash, Tyler Pohjolainen aka TP and Al Sampson aka Al, posted a time of 43.4 for Zephyrhills HS winning 1^st place in the 4 x 100 meter relay.  Matt Cicanese of Pasco HS came in 1^st place in the pole vault stands with his fellow Pirates, Bryan Paul, Kate Markle, Tori Larsen and Matt Kyan.
