San Antonio Animal Hospital hosted the Dade City Chamber of Commerce Mixer on August 28. The staff gave tours and showed off the San Antonio Animal Hospital Community Outreach that features a fully equipped, mobile unit with surgery and dental suite, lab and exam room.  The San Antonio Animal Hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association  (AAHA), where only 15% of animal hospitals are accepted. Kayla's Lemonade Stand brought together two outstanding families, Casey and Mark Kiser with their family, Tate 3 months, Brady 21 months, Jackson 3 who is a cancer survivor and Dawson 5 with Amy and Michael Huth and their family Tyler 5 and Kayla 9. Although these Mothers just met that day they both felt a bond that made them soul mates forever. Their young children, Caseys’ Jackson and Amys’ Kayla, who held this fund raiser in Jackson’s honor, have shown them a strength and fortitude not readily found in most adults and thanked God for His help in making this day one of both hope and promise for a better future for kids fighting cancer.

 Officers from the Zephyrhills Police Department were outside Wal-Mart in Zephyrhills on August 9 for Shop With a Cop to accept donations of school supplies and monetary donations to be used to purchase supplies for local students in need.  Pictured are (from left): Billy White, Alex Humphreys, and Shawn Worley, Zephyrhills Police Explorers, Daniel Hill SRO at West Zephyrhills Elementary and Woodland Elementary, Ben Beson, SRO at Zephyrhills High School, Detective Ken Keith, Jason Shipley, SRO at Raymond Stewart Middle School, and Matt Hillen, Police Academy Cadet. Detective Keith and Officer Shipley started the program and are back running it for the local schools benefit.

The Wesley Chapel chapter of Mothers & More hosted their Wesley Chapel Family Fun Day on August 9 at Cypress View Square. The event offered activities that included indoor and outdoor family fun with Carnival games, arts and crafts, bounce houses, face painting, a Chinese auction, and refreshments. Canned goods were collected and a portion of the proceeds went to the Suncoast Harvest Food Bank. Athletes Who Care Triathlon (Wesley Chapel, Dade City, LOL, Trinity)

Wesley Chapel’s Kaley Maples races to complete the first leg of the “Tri Fever” Distance at the Athletes Who Care Triathlon. The annual event was held in Land O’ Lakes on August 9.  Maples had to run one mile, bike ride four miles, and swim 100 yards in the pool at the Land O’ Lakes Rec Center.  Approximately 400 athletes participated.  For more information, go to www.athleteswhocare.org.  Dawn Khalil and son eight year-old Danny Khalil, of Wesley Chapel participated in the Athletes Who Care Triathlon held in Land O’ Lakes on August 9. The folks at Cobb Theatres, who are planning to open their Wesley Chapel movie theater in about a month, held a Job Fair Saturday, August 2 at the Hampton Inn. Troy McDaniel of Cobb Theatres says that they will be hiring more that 160 people for both the Movie Theatres and CinéBistro Restaurant. “We are looking for Managers, Assistant Managers, Projection, Floor staff cashiers Concessions, ushers for our Grove 16 Movie Theatres and Managers, Hosts, Hostess, Bartenders, Cooks, Servers and Bus Staff for our CinéBistro Restaurant.” Said McDaniel. We had a large crowd beginning at 9 am that was steady all day, just a great response and we can’t wait for opening night next month" said McDaniel.

The Wesley Chapel Vipers of the Pasco County Police Athletics League held a carwash held at the Buffalo Southwest Café August 2 in Wesley Chapel to raise funds for their Football and Cheerleading programs that will commence play this month at the Wesley Chapel District Park. The Wesley Chapel Vipers were surprised by a sudden summer downpour while posing for their picture when an unidentified Viper Coach with a hose decided it was time to cool them off by soaking them at the Viper carwash held at Buffalo Southwest Café on August 2.

  All Kids Academy's Open House on August 2nd was a great way for local families to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon.  The teachers really got into the spirit of things doing their own arts and crafts, game playing, and posing for photo "ops"!  The Academy is now registering infants through pre-k, and before and after school for the 2008-2009 school year.
