LUTZ...5159-p… Noreen Davis and husband Guitarist Bill Davis, of Lutz, admired the beautiful art work of the Co-Op Artists of the Alexandria Art Gallery in Land O’ Lakes at the Art in the Park on April 19.  This was a first time event for the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce and the new Wesley Chapel District Park was a perfect fit.  The event was well attended and was full of art, food vendors, and fun.  More than 35 artists-most local-competed for the big prize of Best of Show that paid $500. SR 56 Expansion and The Shops of Wiregrass Ground Breaking

Several people attended the Groundbreaking of State Road 56 Expansion on March 19.  The event was held near the JC Penney’s in Wesley Chapel.  Several members of the Greater Wesley Chapel of Commerce and the Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce attended along with County Commissioners’ and business leaders. A rendering of what the finished product will look like was impressive.  Tenant announcements were made for The Shops At Wiregrass.  Don Porter, who owned the land where the new mall will be located spoke about a nearby road that used to be a dirt road where wagons traveled.  One advantage was that when there was a hole in the road, the driver would just get his shovel and fill the hole himself.  The land is also where Porter raised his family over 35 years.

Athlete’s Who Care put on their 2007 Tri Fever & Babes & Bums Triathlon on August 4.  Over 400 participants showed up on a beautiful hot sunny day to compete in running, bicycling, and swimming at the Land O’ Lakes Rec Center Complex.  The group worked in conjunction with the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department, the Pasco County Sheriffs Office, Emergency Services, and local Civic and Community Organizations.

 Chris Ryan 5663…The shooter, played by Sheriff’s Explorer Chris Ryan, 17 of Berkley Prep. is taken in to custody by Pasco Sheriff Corporal Arthur Morrison and Corporal Mike McKnight in exercise held at Wesley Chapel High School on August 1, 2007, by the Training Department of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office in order to train school resource officers and officers from the Dade City and Zephyrhills Police Departments on the best procedures for handling emergencies.

 Arthur Morrison 5658…Pasco Sheriff Corporal Arthur Morrison and Corporal Tuni Roach, learn to search the hallways for a shooter that will reduce the likelihood of death or injury to themselves, innocent students and even the shooters themselves. The exercise was held at Wesley Chapel High School on August 1, 2007, by the Training Department of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.

This gathering was an opportunity to celebrate families, faith and the future of the community. Pastor Jeff Olsen said, “As a nearby resident, parent of four daughters, and a soccer coach I am very excited about the opening of this new park.
