The Sunlake High School Cheerleaders will be part of a group of 2,000 participants who will be entertaining during the Super Bowl Half-time Show with Bruce Springsteen. The idea originated when Sunlake ESE Department Chair and Mainstream Consult Teacher Dave Pike suggested the idea to EMH Teacher and Varsity Cheerleader coach Lindsay Sorci and she enthusiastically contacted the show arrangers who immediately accepted. Lopez Veterans State Nursing Home Volunteers Experience the Snoozelin Machine

        In 2004 Nature Coast Volunteers For Veterans Inc .purchased a SNOEZLEN Machine for the residents of Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home in Land O’ Lakes. This machine is used to enhance the quality of life for the 120  Veterans residing in the Nursing Home. Many who are alone and very ill. The Snoezlen is a Therapy Machine that is used for the residents with disabilities and provides a tension-free environment for relaxation, and helps reduce the amount of medication needed, especially for Alzheimer patients.  Due to the fact that the Snoezlen Machine is used on larger groups at one time the need has arisen for a special room for this Therapy. The Nature Coast Volunteers For Veterans Inc. have started a fund to raise money for a room or building for this Therapy and are seeking financial support from the community and organizations to achieve this goal. Two Land O'Lakes QBs, including

 Weatherford, to transfer

Looks like Land O'Lakes will have plenty to sort out during spring football.

The Gators were dealt a double whammy when coaches learned they lost first- and second-string sophomore quarterbacks Stevie Weatherford and Tanner Stocker. Both have decided to transfer.

Weatherford, one of six Weatherfords to play football at Land O'Lakes, had not enrolled anywhere as of Tuesday. Older brother, state Rep.

Will Weatherford, said the decision to leave Land O'Lakes was made by family and had nothing to do with football.

Coaches return goes sour

One of the most successful boys basketball coaching careers in North Suncoast history has come to an abrupt end. Former Springstead High icon Greg O'Connell, who came out of retirement in 2007 to take over the program at Bishop McLaughlin, confirmed Tuesday morning he walked away from the job on Jan. 2 — hours before a game at Lakeland Christian — after a meeting with disgruntled parents.
