Pasco County VFW Post 7987 in Trinity
Welcomes Home Real American Hero
Cpt Justin Gaertner      By LuAnn Carli
On Saturday, May 14, the VFW Post 7987 and other patriotic supporters lined the streets of Trinity Blvd. in Pasco County, to greet a man that they believe deserves all the accolades they can bestow. An inspiring story about courage and the strength of the human spirit comes from a young man of 22 years who believes that the sacrifice of losing his legs and coming close to losing his life altogether comes with the territory when a man or woman signs up to protect the country that he chose to defend. Cpl. Justin Gaertner, was on patrol on Thanksgiving day, but his work was interrupted by an IED explosion that left him fighting for his life on the battlefield realizing that both of his legs were gone. His one thought was not to worry his mother when he called his family to tell them what had happened.
